This Carrot Spinach Cake for Dogs is made with whole ingredients that support your dog’s health. It takes about 30 minutes to prepare and bake, and serves up a delicious slice for your canine companion, making treat time extra special.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped spinach
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (ensure it’s dog-safe)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup water (as needed)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a small cake pan.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the applesauce, peanut butter, and egg. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in the whole wheat flour, baking powder, grated carrots, and spinach until well combined. If the batter is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
  4. Pour Batter: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool completely before serving it to your dog. You can optionally frost it with a dog-safe yogurt or peanut butter icing.
