Chicken Liver Cake Packed With Protein

I baked this chicken liver cake for my dog Milo’s birthday last month. The liver smelled rich while baking, and he sat by the oven until I gave him the first piece.

Easy Dog Cake Recipe

A round Chicken Liver Cake for dogs decorated with yogurt frosting and bone-shaped treats on a wooden table.

This dog cake features chicken livers blended with whole wheat flour, eggs, and a touch of broth to keep it moist and delicious. It takes about 30 minutes from prep to baking and serves as a healthy treat for dogs.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken livers, cleaned and chopped
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats (optional)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (optional)
  • Cooking spray or parchment paper for baking

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Blend Ingredients: In a blender or food processor, combine the chicken livers, eggs, and chicken broth. Blend until smooth.
  3. Mix: In a large bowl, combine the blended chicken liver mixture with whole wheat flour and oats. If using peanut butter, stir it in at this stage.
  4. Bake: Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool completely before serving it to your dog. You can frost it with a dog-friendly yogurt or serve it plain.

I keep the cake covered in the fridge for up to two days since liver spoils quickly. Milo gets a small slice as a treat, and the cake usually lasts us two days.
