Banana Rice Cake for Sensitive Tummies

I made this banana rice cake for my dog Oliver when he had a sensitive stomach after a vet visit. The rice made the cake gentle, and he ate it without the usual hesitation he shows when he is off his food.

Easy Banana Rice Cake for Dogs

Banana rice cake for dogs on a wooden plate, with bananas and peanut butter, perfect for sensitive tummies.

This recipe yields a soft and moist banana rice cake that dogs will love. Ideal for special occasions or as a regular treat, it combines the natural sweetness of ripe bananas with cooked rice, ensuring it’s both flavorful and easy on your dog’s digestive system.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (unsweetened, xylitol-free)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour or alternative flour (if gluten-sensitive)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a small cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, peanut butter, applesauce, and egg. Mix until smooth and well-blended.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, mix together the cooked rice, flour, and baking powder.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve: Let the cake cool completely before serving it to your dog. You can also frost it with a bit of additional peanut butter if desired.
