Sardine & Spinach Cake Loaded With Healthy Ingredients

I made this sardine and spinach cake for my dog Oliver’s birthday last weekend. The spinach hid in the sardine oil, and he ate the first piece without noticing the greens.

Ingredients

  • 1 can sardines in water, drained
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a bowl, combine sardines, chopped spinach, whole wheat flour, applesauce, vegetable broth, egg, and baking powder. Mix until well combined.
  3. Pour Batter: Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
  4. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool before slicing. Serve as a tasty treat for your dog.
