Rabbit & Oatmeal Recipe for Gentle Digestion

I make this rabbit and oatmeal gentle digestion recipe when my cat, Milo, has an upset stomach. The oatmeal soothes, and he eats it without the usual hesitation he shows when he is off his food.

Nutritious Rabbit & Oatmeal Recipe for Cats

A fresh homemade cat food bowl with rabbit and oatmeal, garnished with carrots, on a countertop.

This gentle digestion recipe features tender rabbit meat combined with cooked oatmeal, providing both protein and energy. The recipe is simple to prepare and yields enough food for 4 servings, perfect for maintaining your cat’s health.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup diced rabbit meat (cooked and boneless)
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal (unsweetened and plain)
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth (low sodium)
  • 1/4 cup carrots, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon taurine supplement (optional, for cat health)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Oatmeal: In a pot, combine the oatmeal and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes or until softened.
  2. Add Rabbit: Stir in the diced rabbit meat and optional carrots. Cook on low heat for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  3. Incorporate Olive Oil: Remove from heat and stir in olive oil and taurine supplement (if using) for added health benefits.
  4. Cool and Serve: Allow the mixture to cool before serving it to your cat in their dish. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
