Cottage Cheese Berry Cake With Creamy Goodness

I made this cottage cheese berry cake for my dog Luna’s birthday last month. The cottage cheese made the cake creamy, and she licked the mixing bowl clean before I could wash it.

Healthy Dog Cake Recipe

Mini Cottage Cheese Berry Cakes for dogs, decorated with berries, on a rustic table with a puppy in the background.

This cupcake-style cake is made with cottage cheese, blended with mashed bananas and mixed with dog-safe berries. It’s a fun and wholesome way to celebrate your dog’s special occasions while keeping their health in mind. The recipe prepares about 12 mini cakes, perfect for sharing with your canine companions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cottage cheese
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1/2 cup blueberries or chopped strawberries (dog-safe berries)
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, make sure it’s suitable for dogs)
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • Fresh berries for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease them.
  2. Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cottage cheese, mashed banana, beaten egg, and honey if using. Stir until well combined.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the whole wheat flour and baking powder. Gradually add it to the wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Add Berries: Gently fold in the blueberries or strawberries into the batter.
  5. Fill Muffin Tins: Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tins, filling each slot about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the cakes to cool completely before removing them from the pan. Decorate with additional berries if desired, and serve to your pup as a special treat.
