I made this salmon and cottage cheese cake for my dog Luna’s birthday last month. The cottage cheese made the cake creamy, and she ate the first piece without hesitation.

Healthy Salmon & Cottage Cheese Cake for Dogs

This delightful dog cake features flaky salmon blended with creamy cottage cheese, creating a moist texture that your dog will love. The preparation time is around 20 minutes with an additional baking time of 30 minutes, serving 8 dog-friendly portions.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (14 oz) of pink salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup oats
  • ¼ cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 carrot, finely grated (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Dog-safe frosting or yogurt for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flaked salmon, cottage cheese, eggs, oats, whole wheat flour, olive oil, and optional carrot and parsley. Mix until well combined.
  3. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Cool: Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before carefully removing it.
  5. Decorate: If desired, frost with dog-safe frosting or a thin layer of yogurt, and garnish with additional parsley or small dog treats on top.
