This Sardine Celebration Cake is baked to perfection using nutritious ingredients tailored for your dog’s health. The recipe serves 6 to 8 doggy cupcakes, ideal for a fun little celebration.

Ingredients

  • 1 can sardines in water, drained
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup applesauce (unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (unsweetened and unsalted)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: Carob chips or vegetable toppings for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine sardines, applesauce, peanut butter, and eggs. Mash the sardines with a fork to mix well.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the flour, oats, and baking powder.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until well combined.
  5. Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Decorate: Allow the cake to cool completely before serving. Decorate with optional toppings if desired.
