A colorful dog-friendly watermelon cake topped with yogurt and garnished with fruits, served outdoors.

This dog-friendly cake features a delightful watermelon base topped with creamy yogurt frosting, making it a special treat for your pet’s birthday or any occasion. The preparation time is minimal, and it serves as an appealing and nutritious snack that your dog will love.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium seedless watermelon
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • Carob chips or dog-safe treats for decoration (optional)
  • Fresh fruits like blueberries or strawberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Watermelon: Cut the watermelon in half and scoop out the flesh, reserving the rind to create a bowl or design the shape of the cake.
  2. Create the Cake: Either use a round section of the watermelon as the cake base or layer the watermelon flesh to create a layered cake effect.
  3. Make the Frosting: In a bowl, mix the Greek yogurt with honey (if using) until smooth.
  4. Assemble the Cake: Spread the yogurt mixture over the watermelon ‘cake’ to create a frosting layer.
  5. Decorate: Add carob chips or small dog treats on top and garnish with fresh fruits if desired.
  6. Chill and Serve: Place the cake in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving to allow it to set. Cut into slices and serve to your dog as a special treat.
