Cottage Cheese Banana Cake That’s Creamy and Soft

I baked this cottage cheese banana cake for my dog Luna’s birthday last weekend. The cottage cheese made the cake creamy, and she licked the mixing bowl clean before I could wash it.

This cake can easily be adjusted to be a homemade dog food recipe or a specific dog cake recipe by excluding any sweeteners and using dog-friendly ingredients. Additionally, it’s a wonderful way to incorporate Cottage Cheese Banana Cake for Dogs into your pet’s diet.

This cake features a moist and fluffy texture, thanks to the combination of ripe bananas and cottage cheese. It takes approximately 45 minutes to prepare and bake, serving 8 people, making it a versatile recipe for both humans and dogs.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (optional for dogs, substitute with unsweetened applesauce)
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened peanut butter (optional for dogs)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, cottage cheese, honey (if using), oil, and peanut butter (if using). Mix until well blended.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve as a treat for yourself or your dog.
