Delicious Chicken Rice Layer Cake for Dogs
This easy-to-follow recipe results in a moist and flavorful layer cake that your dogs will devour. It takes about an hour to prepare and bake, and it serves as a fun and healthy meal or treat for your beloved pets.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup cooked rice, preferably brown rice
- 1/2 cup plain pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth or water
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup peas or carrots (optional)
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cooked rice, pumpkin puree, chicken broth, applesauce, and eggs. Mix until well blended.
- Add Flour: Gradually add the whole wheat flour and mix until you have a smooth batter. If using, fold in the peas or carrots.
- Bake the Cakes: Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the Cakes: Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost and Serve: Once cooled, stack the two layers and spread additional pumpkin puree or applesauce on top as frosting. Cut into slices and serve to your furry friends!
