This Quail & Apple Cake features tender quail meat combined with fresh apples, making it a flavorful treat. The recipe takes about 1 hour from start to finish and yields a cake that’s perfect for spoiling your pups.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked quail meat, shredded
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup honey (optional)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Apple slices for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a round cake pan with cooking spray.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked quail meat, applesauce, oil, and egg. Mix well.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, baking powder, and cinnamon.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. If using, fold in honey.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Decorate: Let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan. Decorate with apple slices on top before serving to your pup.
