This dog cake features a delicious combination of peanut butter, pumpkin, and whole wheat flour, ensuring it’s both tasty and healthy for your canine companion. The recipe makes one 8-inch cake and can easily be topped with a dog-friendly frosting for an extra special touch.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup peanut butter (unsweetened and unsalted)
- 1/2 cup applesauce (unsweetened)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup low-fat yogurt (for frosting, optional)
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter (for frosting, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
- Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, pumpkin puree, peanut butter, applesauce, egg, and baking powder. Mix until well combined.
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
