I made this apple blueberry cake for my dog Milo’s birthday last month. The blueberries burst into the apple, and he ate the first piece without hesitation.
Dog Cake Recipe: Apple Blueberry Delight
This dog cake features a moist texture thanks to the apples and blueberries, providing vitamins and antioxidants in every bite. It takes approximately 1 hour from start to finish and yields about 8 servings for your beloved pets.
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 1/4 cup peanut butter (ensure it doesn’t contain xylitol)
- 1/4 cup honey (optional)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, and baking powder.
- Blend the Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the applesauce, peanut butter, honey (if using), and egg until well combined.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Gently fold in the blueberries.
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Once cooled, slice it into pieces suitable for your dog’s size and enjoy the happy moments with your pup.

I store the cake in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Milo gets a small slice as a treat, and the cake usually lasts us two days.
