Frozen Birthday Cake to Keep Dogs Cool

I made this frozen birthday cake for my dog Oliver’s July birthday. The frozen layers kept him cool, and he licked the cake until it was a puddle.

Easy and Fun Frozen Dog Cake Recipe

This dog cake recipe makes a deliciously icy treat that will help keep your dog cool during warm weather. It features yogurt and mashed bananas, frozen into a cake shape, and is quick to prepare, taking about 10 minutes to assemble and a few hours to freeze.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt or natural yogurt (no added sugar or sweeteners)
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (ensure it’s xylitol-free)
  • 1/4 cup shredded carrots (optional)
  • 1/4 cup blueberries or diced strawberries for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and peanut butter until smooth.
  2. Mix the Yogurt: Add the yogurt to the banana-peanut butter mixture, stirring well to combine. If you’re using shredded carrots, fold them in now.
  3. Form the Cake: Pour the mixture into a silicone cake mold or a bowl that can be inverted later. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  4. Add Toppings: Sprinkle blueberries or diced strawberries on top for decoration.
  5. Freeze: Place the mold in the freezer for about 4 hours or until completely firm.
  6. Serve: Once set, remove the cake from the mold by gently pulling or inverting. Let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before slicing and serving to your dog.
