Turkey Liver Cake That’s Surprisingly Delicious

I baked this turkey liver cake for my dog Luna’s birthday last weekend. The liver smelled rich while baking, and she ate the first piece without hesitation.

This Turkey Liver Cake is made with ground turkey liver, flour, and eggs, creating a moist and flavorful cake that dogs crave. The recipe takes about 60 minutes from start to finish and serves as a delightful reward for your pet.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey liver
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (low sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: 1/4 cup grated carrots for added nutrition

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey liver, flour, eggs, chicken broth, olive oil, and baking powder. Mix until well combined. If using, fold in the grated carrots.
  3. Bake the Cake: Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Cool and Serve: Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into slices or shapes suitable for your dog.
  5. Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

I keep the cake covered in the fridge for up to two days since liver spoils quickly. Luna gets a small slice as a treat, and the cake usually lasts us two days.
