Ultimate Doggy Birthday Cake That Makes Every Celebration Special

I baked this ultimate doggy birthday cake for my dog Oliver’s birthday last weekend. The layers and frosting made the cake impressive, and he ate the first piece before I could take a photo.

Easy and Healthy Birthday Cake for Dogs

A delightful homemade dog birthday cake topped with yogurt frosting and dog treats, surrounded by festive decorations.

This dog cake features a delicious combination of peanut butter, pumpkin, and whole wheat flour, ensuring it’s both tasty and healthy for your canine companion. The recipe makes one 8-inch cake and can easily be topped with a dog-friendly frosting for an extra special touch.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (unsweetened and unsalted)
  • 1/2 cup applesauce (unsweetened)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup low-fat yogurt (for frosting, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter (for frosting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, pumpkin puree, peanut butter, applesauce, egg, and baking powder. Mix until well combined.
  3. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Cool: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. Prepare the Frosting (Optional): In a small bowl, mix together the yogurt and peanut butter until smooth. Once the cake is completely cool, frost with the yogurt mixture if desired.
  6. Serve: Slice the cake and serve to your dog in moderation. You can also decorate with dog-friendly treats for an extra festive look.
