I made this banana berry celebration cake for my dog Oliver’s birthday last month. The berries burst into the banana, and he ate the first piece without hesitation.
Easy Dog Cake Recipe
This dog-friendly cake features ripe bananas and fresh berries, creating a flavorful and moist texture. The recipe takes about 1 hour from start to finish and can serve several dogs depending on their size.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (unsweetened and xylitol-free)
- 1/4 cup honey (optional)
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup yogurt (plain, for icing)
Instructions
- Prep the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, peanut butter, honey, and applesauce until smooth.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and baking powder.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the blueberries gently.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack.
- Prepare Icing: Once the cake is cool, spread plain yogurt over the top as frosting. Decorate with additional blueberries or banana slices if desired.
- Serve: Cut into appropriate pieces based on your dog’s size and serve as a special treat!

I keep the cake covered in the fridge for up to two days. Oliver gets a small slice as a treat, and the cake usually lasts us two days.
