This Rabbit Birthday Layer Cake for Dogs is crafted using fresh ingredients like ground rabbit, carrots, and oats, ensuring a nutritious and tasty treat. The cake takes about 1 hour to make and serves 8 doggy guests.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ground rabbit meat
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (low sodium)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (for frosting)
  • Fresh carrot pieces and parsley for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  2. Mix the Batter: In a large bowl, combine the ground rabbit, whole wheat flour, rolled oats, grated carrots, applesauce, chicken broth, eggs, and baking powder. Mix until everything is well combined.
  3. Bake the Cakes: Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  4. Frost the Cake: Once the cakes are completely cooled, spread a layer of Greek yogurt on top of one cake layer, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides with more yogurt.
  5. Decorate: Garnish the cake with fresh carrot pieces and parsley for an extra festive touch.
  6. Serve: Cut into pieces and serve to your four-legged friend on their special day. Ensure any leftovers are stored in the refrigerator.
