Zizi kept getting into fights with the other animals and nothing seemed to help the situation out. He continued to be aggressive even after he was neutered. Zizi was quite old when, in 2012, Haley rescued Winston, an emaciated raccoon, from the side of the road.
There weren’t any wildlife sanctuaries nearby and the vet wouldn’t help Winston. That’s when Haley decided to bring the raccoon home and bottle feed him. Winston recovered and began to grow. Winston had so much energy that Haley decided to introduce him back into the outside world. Winston approached Zizi, and Haley grew very nervous.
But much to her surprise, Winston and Zizi cuddled up and took a nap outside. Zizi and Winston grew a bond of friendship that was as close as any human relationship.
Haley was amazed and said that any time of the day she would look out her window and see the two animals playing together gently or napping in the sunlight.
The two were inseparable and those were the happiest of Zizi’s and Winston’s lives.
When Zizi passed away, Winston was alone in the world. He began spending more time out into the wild and came back to Haley’s home much less often. Zizi helped Winston return to the wild after he passed away.
Winston now visits Haley about once a month, and to play with Haley’s new kitten.
