Homemade Celebration Meatloaf Layer Cake for Dogs
This meatloaf layer cake is made with lean ground beef, oats, and veggies, creating a savory and moist treat. The cake takes approximately 1 hour to prepare and bake, and serves one happy dog with plenty of leftovers.
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup green beans chopped
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt for frosting
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter for frosting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, rolled oats, carrots, green beans, pumpkin puree, egg, chicken broth, and salt (if using). Mix until well combined.
- Prepare Bakeware: Grease two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
- Bake Layers: Divide the meatloaf mixture evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until cooked through. Let them cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pans.
- Frost the Cake: In a bowl, mix the Greek yogurt and peanut butter together to create a frosting. Once the meatloaf layers are completely cool, spread a layer of frosting on top of one meatloaf layer, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
